The Yak Xtra adds a "speak" command to Lingo, which will voice any text string using text-to-speech. The Macintosh version requires PlainTalk, Apple's text-to-speech technology. The Windows version uses Eloquent Technologies' Windows text-to-speech engine, which is included in the distribution package. The Yak Xtra costs $100 for a cross-platform license, plus the cost of licensing the Eloquent text-to-speech engine, which varies based on volume. The current version of the Yak Xtra is 1.1 for Windows, 1.0 for Macintosh.
