The bkMixer Xtra enables you to set the overall mixer volume as well as CD audio, WAV, MIDI, line-in, microphone, speaker volume and left and right stereo channel volume from within Director with 65000 degrees of precision. This is not otherwise possible either through MCI or through Director's "soundLevel" property which only works reliably on the Mac.
