How can I use PowerPoint files in Director?

There are several methods to open and/or display a PowerPoint slide show in Director.

- Use the Director Powerpoint Import Xtra to physically import PowerPoint 4.0 shows into Director.

- Use the Lingo "open {file name} with {application name}" command. This requires either PowerPoint or the PowerPoint Viewer. The PowerPoint Viewer is a free application available from Microsoft (do a search for PowerPoint Viewer on the Microsoft site).

- Use the ActiveX Control and create a Web Browser window to display the PowerPoint file. This requires IE and PowerPoint or the PowerPoint Viewer.

- Use one of any number of Xtras. This includes Ravware's PPViewer Xtra or BuddyAPI. Both these solutions require the PowerPoint Viewer.

There are several online articles about using PowerPoint inside Director, including my own at http://www.director-online.com/accessArticle.cfm?id=363 and http://www.director-online.com/accessArticle.cfm?id=363 and Al Hospers at http://www.cambersoft.com/code/ppt_demo.html.
