I use an actionScript sourc doing the same thing and i manage to addapt it in lingo. You can call   xmlObject = createObjXML(config_XML) where config_XML is your XML string. then after xmlObject.something and you get the attributes or xmlObject.something.count for repetitive enteries or xmlObject.something._value for text.
